Day 1

Overview

A Fair Trek Project: Jungle Trek and Khmu Hilltribe Homestay

Meet your guide and transfer 25 minutes to the Tiger Trail Adventure Camp, a fantastic location in the middle of nature, a huge mountain chain right in front of you. Cross the Nam Khan River via local boat to begin the traverse up to a mid-mountain Theung village (Khamu).

Careful not to disrupt the serenity of this isolated area, we can observe the locals as they carry out their daily tasks. You get the chance to ask questions and wander around in the small village. Your guide will be happy to translate your questions. Waving our goodbyes, we enter a different world of a grander scale dominated by jungle, soaring limestone rock faces, and flourishing ferns. Trek to a Lao Sung village (Hmong) situated on a lake.

Edging forward along a steep, narrow, rocky track, we ascend to our final destination, sharing the trail with passing villagers on their day’s pilgrimage to market. After a short but steep walk, we finally arrive at the Khamu village, an isolated village high in the mountains. Welcomed by the shy yet curious kids, we enjoy lunch in a local, humble home to share in a unique encounter. Listen to the stories, play with the curious children or ask your questions about their way of life up here. Enjoy dinner in the village, explore, and take in this amazing evening under the Laos sky deep in the Laos jungle Khmu homestay.

Day 2

Overview

Trek to the Tad Sae Waterfall and Kayaking the Nam Khan River (B, L)

After your breakfast, we set up for 1.5-hour trek to the Tad Sae Waterfall. The waterfall is expansive and beautiful. Dive in for a refreshing swim and explore small trails going behind the waterfalls covered with moss and ferns. Afterwards, a boat will take you to the Tiger Trail Adventure Camp where we’ll prepare kayaks and set out on a 3-4 hour paddling trip downriver. Even for inexperienced paddlers, this is a great option.

End this adventure packed cultural immersion tour with transfer return to Luang Prabang mid-afternoon.

  •  Low water season, November to July:

During the low water season, approximately February to July, Tad Sae Waterfall is not visited as it is low or dry. On day two, we’ll hike from our homestay 1.5 hours to Ban En where we will start kayaking. Total paddling time is approximately 2.5 hours before meeting our driver for return transfer to Luang Prabang.
